Boating Accidents

According to Florida's Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission statistics, Florida had 67 boating fatalities in 2016, more than any other U.S. state. Most occurred in July and 16 involved collisions with fixed objects or other vessels. 24% were alcohol or drug related.

Very complex federal Admiralty and Maritime laws, and not Florida law, typically apply to these are cases. You should trust your claim to an attorney with experience.

I have personally tried cases arising from boating accidents ranging from pleasure craft to aircraft carriers and have litigated them in the state and federal courts.

My best friend was nearly fatally injured in a boat collision just before the 2005 Super Bowl when his police boat collided with an old pier left in the river by a contractor after a bridge was removed. Though the U.S. Coast Guard, Florida Fish & Wildlife Commission police and even Maritime law presumed the Captain negligent, I was able to overcome this and make a good recovery for the client.
